Cheeky overnight at Oxwich Bay (a trip of a few firsts)

Updated: Jul 21, 2021

One of the few "best" things about being in the Bristol Channel is that just up the road we have some of the most amazing coastlines in the world, with sights that cannot be rivalled and, if you're lucky, amazing wildlife to boot. Most trips up the welsh coastline will result in spotting some dolphin or porpoise, or both, on this trip however we didn't see any lol, bit cold I think, however we did see a seal bobbing about - unfortunately he was camera shy.

Anyway, I mention this was a trip of a few firsts, the first first :-) was getting off my pontoon and through the barrage lock with just myself and Alison, (Leah was just on stand by but didn't do anything, we wanted to see if we could come off the pontoon and into the lock with just us - and we did it, no bumps, or issues at all - very chuffed.

Alison, preparing to tie us up in the lock, Leah on stand by.

Alison secured the stern line, whilst I put us into neutral and jumped off with the bow line, all very quickly but perfectly planned and timed.

The next first, was getting the tender up - and seeing Dione with a 360 view from the water (she is beautiful!!)

The final of this trip's firsts - was having a BBQ on the beach (I know, really, I don't think I have ever had a BBQ on the beach!) This was even more special as it was with friends, Sian and Russ from Yacht Crystal. The ending to a pretty perfect day.

Such a great weekend I wish we could have stayed longer - however my view is with this stunning country and coast just up the road - why would you ever spend a weekend in the marina, boats are for using - get out there and get going, spend time with family and friends - that's what we intend to do - A LOT.

Well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's if the crew can keep up with me :-) lol

Dione - over and out....
